Walk-In Labs and Suites
CIT provides walk-in labs and multimedia edit suites in both the Carrier ground floor and Rose Library 5th floor locations. with a variety of equipment, software and support with using the technology. Faculty are free to come in and use the walk-in areas during our regular work hours (Mon-Thur 9a-5p, Fri 9a-4p), or reserve an edit suite. To reserve a suite or to ask questions, please stop by or contact us at the Carrier Library 568-7061, and at the Rose Library 568-4836.
Scanning: CIT is equipped with equipment to aid faculty in scanning documents (inlcuding OCR and .pdf output) and images (12.2"x17.2" Max. scan area, however larger documents can be scanned as multiple images which can then be easily stitched together), slide scanning, and various sized film scanning.
Audio/Video: Mac workstations with the ability to import, convert, edit, and export media from various formats including: VHS, Hi-8 Digital, MiniDV tape, audio casette, and DVD (other analog sources are possible via our analog to digital converters). Recording equipment can also be added with advanced notice.
Adobe Creative Suite 4, Adobe Presenter, Final Cut Pro Studio, Camtasia Studio, Screenflow, iMovie/iLife 09, MS Office, Omni Page OCR software, and more.
Trained CIT staff are available to assist faculty in the use CIT Walk-In and Edit Suite technologies including scanning pictures, slides, negatives, & text, creating indexable PDF files, creating and editing original graphics for web or presentations, using Google Docs, video editing, using JMUtube, and more.
Who Can Use the CIT?
CIT Walk-In areas, studios, and edit suites are for faculty/staff/GAs use only. If you have hired an undergraduate student to do some of the work for you in preparation to teach a class, they may also be able to use the CIT walk-in areas if the faculty member completes the request for Student Use Form.
