Professional video audio production facilities, resources, and assistance are available to any JMU faculty and staff. CIT Media Services staff handles the technical issues while faculty focus on their instructional content.

Narration Room in Carrier Library
This is a sound cushioned room with professional audio equipment for recording narrations to videos, powerpoints, and for creating audio podcasts.
Software includes: Adobe Presenter, Camtasia Studio, ScreenFlow, and MS Office.
As always, staff are available to assist you in using this equipment and software.

CIT Will Transcode Video & Audio Formats for Faculty
The CIT will convert video and audio formats, such as VHS to digital version for the web, for faculty. Call or stop by to learn more about this service. To make a request, please complete the following A/V Transcoding Request Form (104a).

Video Format Transfer
Convert VHS, MiniDV, HDV, DVCAM, DV, and DVD video formats
from one format to another.
Convert video from one codec format, such as .wmv, to another format such as .mp4.
Convert videos for JMUTube. http://jmutube.cit.jmu.edu/Audio Format Transfer
Convert CDs, audio cassettes, and digital audio files into various formats.
Note that, for legal reasons, if the majority of a work is being copied, it will need to be approved by Media Resources who may need to keep the original content in archive for the duration of the use. A/V Media Edit Rooms Available for Faculty Use
Both locations also come with media suites for editing/creating audio, video and images. Media suites can import video from various formats including: VHS, Hi-8 Digital, MiniDV tape, and DVD.
Software includes:
Final Cut Pro Studio, Adobe Premiere Pro, iMovie 09, Photoshop CS4, Illustrator CS4, InDesign CS4, Soundbooth CS4, MS Office, ScreenFlow, SnapzPro, Camtasia Studio, and more.
These suites at either location can be reserved by contacting CIT Media Services:

Who Can Use the CIT?
CIT Walk-In areas, studios, and edit suites are for faculty/staff/GAs use only. If you have hired an undergraduate student to do some of the work for you in preparation to teach a class, they may also be able to use the CIT walk-in areas if the faculty member completes the request for Student Use Form.
