Excellence in Teaching with Technology - Carol Dudding
Congratulations to Dr. Carol Dudding on receiving the Excellence in Teaching and Learning with Technology Award at the TLT Conference on October 20th! CIT uses this award as a way to recognize teachers who have proven themselves as leaders in teaching with technologies at JMU.
Dr. Dudding is the coordinator of the Clinical MS in SLP, Communication Sciences and Disorders. She was nominated for this award by Rory DePaolis in agreement with CSD’s Personnel Advisory Committee, Brenda Ryals and Ayasakanta Rout. Dr. Dudding was nominated for the award because she adapted tools to provide students with virtual life clinical simulations in Speech Language Pathology.
Her use of technology has greatly improved the clinical training of students and provided them with an opportunity to experience a range of clinical experiences in a virtual environment. These simulations are engaging for the students and provide them with an environment where it is okay for them to make mistakes as they are learning. The students are also able to gain experience with real-life situations as they interact with virtual clients and have to make timely clinical decisions. The simulations that Dr. Dudding has created could totally change the way that the students in the Speech Pathology program are educated.
High Five Dr. Dudding!
