High Five!

Excellence in Teaching with Technology - Evelyn Tickle

Congratulations to Ms. Evelyn Tickle on receiving the Excellence in Teaching and Learning with Technology Award at the TLT Conference on October 20th! CIT uses this award as a way to recognize teachers who have proven themselves as leaders in teaching with technologies at JMU.

Evelyn Tickle is an Assistant Professor of Interior Design. She was nominated for this award by Dr. Ronn Daniel, Interior Architecture Program Coordinator and Professor of Interior Architecture and Industrial Design. Evelyn was nominated for the award because she completely re-engergized use of technology in the Interiors program by incorporating technological experimentation in all of her studio classes.

She introduced new software including Revit, Rhino, and SketchUp to CAD classes, pioneered studio projects using 3D printers, and more! Next semester, Evelyn will be teaching a digital fabrication special topics studio. Dr. Ronn Daniel said “Evelyn is a technological leader in the School of Art, Design, and Art History. Her work crosses magically back-and-forth from ancient technologies (Roman Concrete) to the most cutting-edge digital and fabrication techniques (3d printing, CNC router, laser-cutter, etc...). She embodies and exemplifies the highest spirit of technological experimentation in the design professions."

High Five Ms. Evelyn Tickle!
