Media Production Services
Media Production Services (MPS) utilizes a professional video production studio to record instructional content for JMU faculty and staff. The studio is equipped with the following amenities:
- Professional video and audio recording devices, lighting, and various backdrops
- Teleprompter to guide presenter
- Screen capture software for web and software instruction
In addition to studio recordings, MPS also provides on-location video recording services.
Here are some examples of the types of video recordings MPS can provide assistance with:
- Interviews and panel discussions
- Detailed how-to instruction
- Computer and web instruction
- Presentations mixed with additional media content
MPS staff can also create professional graphic design and motion graphics for your project.

Narration Room in Rose and Carrier Libraries
This is a sound cushioned room with professional audio equipment for recording narrations to videos, powerpoints, and for creating audio podcasts.
Software includes: Camtasia Studio, MS Office, and Audacity
As always, staff are available to assist you in using this equipment and software.

Who Can Use Media Production Services?
Media Production Services is for faculty/staff/GAs use only. If a faculty member needs to have a student, student employee or class have access to MPS resources, they may be given permission if the faculty member contacts MPS and makes a request.
Video recording requests may be denied if the project does not fall under the mission of MPS or Innovation Services, or if the resources necessary to complete the project are not available.
